WizardLM, an AGI-focused team at Microsoft, has launched WizardLM-2, a new generation of LLMs they say has improved performance on complex chat, multilingual, reasoning, and agent tasks. The WizardLM-2 family includes three models: WizardLM-2 8x22B, WizardLM-2 70B, and WizardLM-2 7B, with the 8x22B model being their most advanced and the 7B model being the fastest. On a human evaluation basis, the team shared that "WizardLM-2 8x22B is just slightly falling behind GPT-4-1106-preview, and significantly stronger than Command R Plus and GPT4-0314." OpenAI has launched a new office in Tokyo, Japan, and appointed Tadao Nagasaki as President of OpenAI Japan. The company is providing local businesses with early access to a GPT-4 custom model optimized for the Japanese language. In their release, they mentioned, "Our new local presence also gets us closer to leading businesses like Daikin, Rakuten, and TOYOTA Connected, who are using ChatGPT Enterprise to automate complex business processes, assist in data analysis, and optimize internal reporting."
